Sleep is an active biological state.
During different stages of sleep, your brain processes information, consolidates memories and regulates numerous physiological functions.
This is one reason why studying all night before an exam can sometimes backfire.
You may spend more hours looking at your notes…
but sleep deprivation can make it harder to concentrate, remember information and think clearly the following day.
In other words:
More time awake doesn’t automatically mean more productive time.
